Interviewed by Chuck Ash in 1988, Frank Zappa said the once contacted the annual Mummers Parade in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, to be his opening act during one of his concerts in the city, but they declined. [1] In 1986, he also considered a film project about a teenage son disinterested in the Mummers Parade, whose dying father asks him to continue the Mummers' tradition, whereupon the son modernizes the event by performing Purple Haze.
