Peefeeyatko
Peefeeyatko is a 1991, 60-minute German (but English-language) documentary about Frank Zappa, written and directed by Henning Lohner. It focuses mostly on his techniques and perspective regarding composition. Apart from interviews with Zappa himself, there are also interviews with John Cage, Matt Groening, Pierre Boulez, Bob Stone, Karlheinz Stockhausen, Iannis Xenakis, Diva Zappa, Ray Wallis and Van Theodore Carlson.
The interviews are intercut with archive footage, both from Zappa's concerts, the film 200 Motels, old Monster Movies, a documentary about Bigfoot and atmospheric scenes set to either Zappa's music, or environmental sounds (in the tradition of John Cage), like a memorable moment where somebody prepares sizzling chunks of meat on a kitchen stove, while on a TV set nearby George H.W. Bush is giving a speech from the Oval Office. The DVD release of Peefeeyatko also adds Ein Leben Als Extravaganza - Das Genie Frank Zappa as bonus material.
Footage of Peefeeyatko was later also used in Lohner's other documentary The Revenge Of The Dead Indians (1992).
