John Cale (March 9, 1942) is a Welsh rock musician, singer, violist and music producer, who was a member of The Velvet Underground, until Lou Reed fired him in 1968, leading to Cale pursuing a solo career. He collaborated with Gary Lucas and was married to Cindy Wells.
Cale co-produced Zappa's Chunky, Novi & Ernie album and contributed to the John Cage tribute album A Chance Operation - The John Cage Tribute (1993).
