Thanks for your contributions. Can we limit ourselves to items with a direct connection to Frank Zappa? The Dweezil Zappa article could be expanded with new info and links out to Wikipedia - but we do not need any more non-FZ articles. There are hundreds of pages that need work/deleting… Special:SpecialPages
Thanks from Maroual
I appreciate a lot the necessary updates and additions you've recently done, thank you!
Initially (many years ago), when we started, lots of people rushed in and cut and pasted little bits all over the place and set up links for every name, date and everything else they could think of. Then they all vanished leaving four or five of us to try and fix all the red links and make sense of it all. Mostly it does not make much sense. If there is no FZ connection (that is worthy of an article - mostly they are worthy of a short paragraph in the Notes section of another article) either Un-link it or create a link out to Wikipedia.
Tributes and Covers
Please do not add anything more to the tribute and covers categories. We are in danger of having more covers than original works and need to rethink what to do with them. Giving them equal status as original works should not be an option. Duncan (talk) 00:30, 3 August 2021 (PDT)
Again - this is a Zappa wiki. Unless there is some direct Zappa involvement there should not be a separate article about it. An article about Meridian Arts Ensemble listing their recordings is all we need. Too many links renders the whole thing unnavigable as I start looking for some Zappa info and within a few links I am lost in the tributes and covers wastelands. There is more than enough Zappa stuff to add or improve to keep us busy. Duncan (talk) 00:51, 22 September 2021 (PDT)
Editing Discussion Pages
Please stop editing Talk/Discussion pages. Red links are not a problem and do not need to be obliterated. Not everyone is from America. We all use the English language correctly and spell marvellous with two Ls. Individual users own their own User page and the associated Talk page. It is up to them how and when they are edited. Other users should not be involved in that process unless invited to do so. The same applies for comments left by a user on an article's discussion page. Duncan (talk) 02:32, 11 October 2021 (PDT)
Stuff Up The Cracks Links removal
Thank you again for the amazing job. I still really appreciate it.
One small thing, when you remove dead links, please make sure not to remove the text part of it. 🤣
On the Freak Out! page, the versions table is now missing many catalog references which does not make any sense.
I will restore the catalog references without the dead links on this one, but I cannot promise I can inspect and restore all the missing text today.
I realize that you actually removed several catalog numbers on many pages. 😅
I will do what I can and keep your edits, but restoring these references will represent a lot of work. 😫
I think I have restored most catalog numbers you deleted. Of course, I took this opportunity to add contents. 😉

I am removing the images from the WOIIFTM cover from individual articles. Away from the context of the cover they have no value as an image - you can usually find the original image that Schenkel used. Schenkel provided a numerical guide to all the people on the cover which can be used when we get around to writing an actual article about the cover. And anything ending in (The List) can also be removed as it adds nothing of value. Duncan (talk) 12:37, 12 November 2021 (PST)
Templates for new pages
When creating new pages, please always make sure to start from these helpful templates.
Use of licensed/copyrighted pictures
Thank you very much for your latest updates and fixes, your work is really valuable.
Please note that we should only upload pictures that we are explicitely allowed to use, I am mentionning this since I noticed the latest picture you uploaded Image:Jawstheme.jpg looks quite similar to a picture on Discogs which would be forbidden as per Discogs' Terms of Service.
Tracks sections on Album pages
In the tracks sections on album pages, can we please leave the titles exactly as they are listed on the sleeves and boxes?
Please note that I had to fix these updates from you (non exhaustive):
- initial name was "200 Motels Movie Ad #1" then edited "200 Motels Movie Ad 1" which I assume was due to forbidden characters in the URL
- initial name was "The Mammy Anthem" then edited "The Mammy Anthem (YCDTOSA1)" possibly done to provide an extra indication on the track uniqueness
The initial names were correct, however the edit was not, so I had to switch back to the initial titles while trying to keep your intention to provide extra information.
I appreciate the work you do here, however can you please follow the guidelines?
In the albums' section, titles must appear in the same fashion as they are on the covers.
