Gerry Fialka
Gerry Fialka (March 15, 1953) is an American writer, film director and producer. He is also active as a curator, lecturer, essayist and reporter. He has interviewed people like Jello Biafra, George Clinton, Warren Cuccurullo, Pamela Des Barres, Dr. John, Henry Kaiser, Mike Keneally, Co de Kloet, Don Preston, Andreas Rausch, Steve Vai and Haskell Wexler, both in print, on podcasts or videocasts.
Fialka was executive producer and manager for guitarist Dawayne Bailey. He also organizes the PXL This Film Festival in Los Angeles. Fialka additionally majes art and plays in local bands, one of his projects being setting James Joyce's Finnegans Wake to music.
Frank Zappa
Fialka worked for Frank Zappa from 1983 to 1993. He answered the phone for Barking Pumpkin Records' hotline and ran Barfko-Swill, Zappa's mail-order business.
He appears in the 1987 VHS release of Baby Snakes and is credited as "Cool guy who wraps stuff so it doesn't break." (This clip also appears in the 2020 documentary.) Fialka also worked as an archivist and production assistant.
Once as a birthday present, he gave Zappa a video tape of The World's Greatest Sinner.
