Blow Boys Blow (Tradition TLP 1026, 1967) is a 1958 album by Ewan MacColl and A.L. Lloyd, featuring a collection of sea shanties.

Frank Zappa
Frank Zappa owned a copy of Blow Boys Blow. During the 24 June 1966 concert at the Fillmore Auditorium in San Francisco, California and again at the Grande Ballroom in Detroit, Michigan (24 August 1968), Zappa and the Mothers covered the sixth track from this album, The Handsome Cabin Boy (sung by A.L. Lloyd). [1]
On 10 November 1968, as a guest DJ on KSAN, San Francisco, he played The Handsome Cabin Boy. He also covered the song, a version released on The Old Masters Box Two Mystery Disc, The Lost Episodes and Joe's Corsage.
In the liner notes of The Lost Episodes Zappa confessed his love for "sea shanties" and mentions he enjoyed listening to Blow Boys Blow. He once lent it to Captain Beefheart, who never gave it back, claiming Zappa had given it to him it and that it was his favorite record. [2] Another famous musician who ranked Blow Boys Blow among her favorite albums was Kate Bush.
