Ringo Starr on the set of 200 Motels.

Ringo Starr (Liverpool, United Kingdom, July 7, 1940) is a British rock musician, most famous as the drummer of The Beatles. After the band split up in 1970 he started a solo career.

Starr was at one time a near neighbour of the Zappa's at 7708 Woodrow Wilson Drive, the house once occupied by Mama Cass, but the house suffered from a severe fire in November 1979[1].

He played Larry The Dwarf in 200 Motels (1971). His driver Martin Lickert plays Jeff Simmons in the same film. Ringo and Lickert consequently also appear in behind-the-scenes footage in Video From Hell, The True Story Of 200 Motels and Peefeeyatko.

Ringo Starr is included in the list of names on the cover of the The MOFO Project/Object (2006) album.

Zappa about Ringo Starr

Bourne: I assume you liked how Ringo played you?

Zappa: He was fine.

- Quoted from Frank Zappa: a Mother Only a Face Could Love, Interview for American Eye, by Michael Bourne, October 23, 1974.

Ringo Starr about Zappa

"Naturally, I, like everyone else, thought Frank was a real weirdo, but when you get to know him, he isn't. He's probably one of the straightest men I've ever met." - Ringo Starr, interviewed by Brian Mewborn for Rolling Stone, 30 April 1981. [2]
