Ahmet Zappa

Ahmet Emuukha Rodan Zappa (May 15, 1974) is Frank and Gail Zappa's third child and second son. He is the brother of Moon Zappa, Dweezil Zappa and Diva Zappa. He is active as a musician, actor and tv-host. He married Selma Blair on January 24, 2004 and divorced in 2006.

He was active in two musical projects: Leather Dynamite and Idiot Sevilles. Ahmet is additionally active as a children's book writer and played a few roles in the sitcom Roseanne starring Roseanne Barr.

Etymology behind his name

He was named after Ahmet Ertegun. The word Emuukha is lifted from the Abnuceals Emuukha Electric Symphony Orchestra & Chorus which appeared on Lumpy Gravy and which later performed a selection of Frank's orchestral pieces at Royce Hall, UCLA in 1975. Rodan is the pterodactyl monster in the Godzilla franchise.

Ahmet came up with the concept for Frank Zappa Plays The Music Of Frank Zappa (1996). He performed Bring It Back and Feel How I Need You on The Frank Zappa AAAFNRAA Birthday Bundle (2006). Ahmet instigated the hologram tour The Bizarre World of Frank Zappa (2019) and co-wrote The Hot Rats Book (2019), with Bill Gubbins.

He and Dweezil were interviewed in the documentaries BBC Television Tribute and Ein Leben Als Extravaganza - Das Genie Frank Zappa (1994). He and Dweezil made promo videos to support the creation of the documentary Zappa.

Other projects

He appeared on Dweezil's albums Havin' A Bad Day (1986), My Guitar Wants To Kill Your Mama (1988) (vocals on "The Coolest Guy In The World") and also appeared in the video. He also appeared on Dweezil's albums Confessions (1991) and Automatic (2000).

Together with Dweezil he also played in the band Z and recorded a few albums together. They also played on stage during some of the Zappa Plays Zappa tours.

Ahmet also appeared on Warren DeMartini's Crazy Enough To Sing To You (1996) and Gene Simmons' ***Hole (2004). He also wrote The Monstrous Memoirs Of A Mighty McFearless.
