Frank Zappa
Frank Zappa once attended a Cheech & Chong show in Santa Monica in the late 1960s, but didn't like their drug-themed humor.
Zappa and the Mothers performed at Santa Monica three times:

- 81/12/11 Santa Monica CA US Civic Auditorium (notable for the appearance of Lisa Popeil and the attendece of Nicolas Slonimsky.
According to All Bass Players Are Failed Ukulele Players (issue 27-28, October-November 1992), during one of these shows at Santa Monica, somebody in the crowd threw popcorn at Zappa.
