Record label founded in Nashville, Tennessee in 1952 by Ernie Young with Jay Miller responsible for production. Recorded artists included Slim Harpo, Lightnin' Slim, Silas Hogan, Lazy Lester, and Lonesome Sundown.
The teenage FZ, as recalled in The Real Frank Zappa Book, used to collect Excello records: "There was a place in San Diego on the ground floor of the Maryland Hotel where you could buy R&B singles unobtainable elsewhere - all those Lightnin' Slim and Slim Harpo sides on the Excello label."
Much of the Excello catalogue has been reissued on CD.
