Utility Muffin Research Kitchen (UMRK) is the name given by Zappa to the recording studio he built at home. It was located at 7885 Woodrow Wilson Drive, LA, CA.
Zappa's mobile recording studio was purchased from the Beach Boys, rebuilt, with the assistance of Mark Pinske and renamed the Utility Muffin Research Kitchen Mobile.
The name "utility muffin research kitchen" was derived from Zappa's song Muffin Man and also appeared in the song A Little Green Rosetta.
Notes
UMRK was also used as a catalog number prefix for:
- Civilization Phaze III (only in the US release)
- Frank Zappa Plays The Music Of Frank Zappa
- EIHN
