Al Di Meola (July 22, 1954) is an American jazz guitarist. He performed with artists like Chick Corea, Paul Simon, Steve Winwood, Jaco Pastorius, John McLaughlin, Jean-Luc Ponty and Steve Vai.
Frank Zappa
Di Meola performed with Zappa at a concert at the Ritz in New York, 11/17/81. Zappa wanted to release this performance officially, but Di Meola refused because he didn't think his solo was good enough. Oddly enough, Guitar Player Magazine conducted a poll to create a list of memorable concerts and this particular show at the ritz was named "best concert ever by anyone".
Zappa played on Clowns On Velvet and Ride Like The Wind.
