Frank Zappa was born in 1940 in Baltimore, where he spent most of his early childhood, except for a brief move to Opa-locka, Florida. In 1947-1948, the Zappa's moved to Edgewood, also in Maryland. [1] Zappa's mother, Rose Marie Zappa, was also born in Baltimore (in 1912).
