Rucker has a scene in his story Nested Scrolls, where a character listens to The Nancy & Mary Music on Chunga's Revenge. [1] He also said that the album Apostrophe (') was a huge influence on his novel Spacetime Donuts. [2] In general, he credits Zappa's music with giving him a lot of creative inspiration. [3]

In 2004, Rucker reported on his blog about when he bought Zappa albums in Leuven, Belgium, and performed yoga while listening to Disco Boy. He also said he read Neil Slaven's biography about Zappa Electric Don Quixote. [4]
