dEUS is a Belgian alternative rock group, active since the early 1990s. They have achieved some fame in Europe and the U.S., but strictly as a cult band.

Zappa references

On their single, "Zea" (1992), a sample from The Blimp from Captain Beefheart's Trout Mask Replica can be heard.

The first notes of Little Umbrellas were sampled in the song "W.C.'s First Draft", which can be found as the second track on their debut album: Worst Case Scenario (1994).

The group's lead singer, Tom Barman, claims he has respect for Zappa's musical talent, but actually likes Captain Beefheart more. Since 2005 Mauro Pawlowski, also a Zappa fan, joined dEUS as a member.
