Duncan, why did you block users "Tanjo" and "Origamikitty"? Am I missing something?
User "Tictac" was already blocked for 2 years.

Yes. They are probably all one person, one of whom pretends to clean up spam - although makes no other contribution - presumably in the hope that we will not notice the bulk of the spam remaining.
Duncan 13:22, 10 Mar 2006 (PST)
I agree, this might be a new spam technique based on confusion. Including a picture reading test on the subscription page should prevent robots spam.

UPPER/lower Case mAMa mia!!!
Hi Duncan,
Trying to answer your question "Should title be capitalised?", I found a lot of guidelines on the Wikipedia such as:
- Wikipedia:Naming conventions
- Wikipedia:Naming conventions (capitalization)
- Wikipedia:Manual of Style (capital letters)
Though I could not find the case detailed, it seems that a title itself is not a citation. So the usual rule should also apply to it: only the first letter would be upper case (except if it is an acronym of course).
Correct me if I'm wrong, I believe we already had similar discussions with Emdebe and then we chose to capitalize the first letter of each word (the American way).
Please also note that the Wikipedia guidelines also recommend to make exceptions for foreign titles if they are not commonly used in English dictionnaries (for instance Art Nouveau is preferred vs Art nouveau).

hi duncan i'm hermann propellerkuh can you please specify on which articles you want to have sources named? second: sorry, i am not acquainted with wikifying articles yet ... hope the texts will do in the meanwhile ...

hi duncan
Wikipedia Does Suck, Yes It Does!!
I'm aware of that, especially after looking their webpage for Guitar Player and finding my prejudices about FZs reception hardened. Of course, it is like it ever was: "... featuring all famous guitarist from Gilmour to VanHalen ..." and like Holy Writ NO FRANK ZAPPA!
Pity is that it is one of the most complete sources easily reached ...
So let them suck!

hi duncan
I tried to clear up a little bit of the "wanted pages" and found "Who Are the Brain Police?" (no capitalised "t"!) but when searching the Wiki no page with that exact name was to be found. If you know how to solve that let me know.
Thanx
Talking to myself :-)
I borrowed the box thingy at the top from Wikipedia. Pretty neat eh?

The Significance of Insignificance
What is the significance of "insignificant reference in TRFZB"?
It seems to me, that this is a rather subjective statement which I can’t really agree upon, objectively speaking... ;-)
--Emdebe 09:02, 10 October 2007 (PDT)
If there was any significant linkage to anything else here I would have made an article but they are just oblique references of no significance to a Zappa wiki that could be linked out to wikipedia from a (vaguely) more relevant article. e.g. The quote with the Night Of The Living Dead reference could be included in an article about Zappa's attitude towards Christians and TV evangelists - with a link elsewhere for anyone who did not know the reference but it does not deserve it's own article here - but that does not exclude anyone from re-making the page and writing an article about it if they really wanted to.

Hi Duncan
To the meandering sounds of Lumpy Gravy pt 2 I'm writing this: I see what you mean with the Saturday Night Live Interview and Article ... thing is, when one sees the "Saturday Night Live" article part ending with "Frank Zappa - Interview Stereo Review 1979" one might look for that article and be left with a feeling that there could be more – – – I have a hint that this is MY idiosyncratic urge to be COMPLETE, to have COMPLETE collections of my object d'desire – – – but, what the fuck, kill the stump.
- Propellerkuh 23:05, 25 Mar 2007 (PDT)
Hi Propellerkuh
Yes I guess there is more - judging by the cover the article could be called "A little Talk with Frank Zappa" but we can change it when we know for sure.
Good to hear you refer to Lumpy Gravy as Part 2 rather than this silly idea that it is made up of individual tracks that have names! I still think of it as Side 1 and Side 2. Still sounds good after all these years.
Still enjoying your CDs - Is there a listing of the track names anywhere?

Left Picture vs. Right Picture?
Hi
Just wanned to ask: What's the best way to place pictures in articles? I always thought it best to place them to the right side ofthe page with the benefit that sees indented text as such, whereas when the picture is left side you cant see the indented text.
What do you think?

Captain Beefheart
Hi Duncan
Thanks for your guiding hand. I've just posted Maroual's User Talk an outline of what I was trying to achieve regarding Beefheart.
Everything Beefheart ONLY RELATING TO ZAPPA on one page. Pure Beefheart only stuff would be found as links to external sites, nothing of only Beefheart consequence here in the ZWJ site.
What I was also trying to emphasise was the early teen years together, Frank's almost fatherly control in respect of CB, '66-to'69 the Trout period, then the latter stuff that popped up on Grow Fins- while keeping EVERYTHING Beefheart that was Zappa related on one page.
There aren't other musicians in the Zappa stable that are quite so intertwined or formative in the emergence (and divergence) of them both. Jointly they had no previous history. Other Magic Band members appeared with FZ, such a page enables overview/aliases list.
Only just beginning to appreciate the enormity of what you guys have achieved and trying hard to get on your wavelength.
I don't see a problem if something small 'doubles up', as long as it's in context with the subject. ie What I'm suggesting under Captain Beefheart would result in the appearance of Orange Claw Hammer as a click-thru to it in Category:Tracks.
I put in 'possibly' as a lure for someone to edit & say it's true, or correct it. Realise now that this isn't Wiki- should have asked first in Talk.
Please consider the merits of my Captain Beefheart page suggestion & what I've done to date/suggestions to Maroual. I promise not to make any more entries in this respect until I see the judgements from you & Maroual.
--Tonefish 10:12, 13 May 2008 (PDT)
- We need a good Beefheart article (I have started it a couple of times but never got very far with it) which would link out to individual pages. The everything on one page approach creates large unwieldy articles which can cause more problems than they solve. We do not know what people using the wiki are looking for and where they have come from sending them to a page with too much info on will not help them. Sending them to a page about a track they just heard and then following the links back as far they want to go will be of more use to them.
- I am not so sure about the magazine articles either. They would need their own page too bit do they add much to the Zappa content?
- Sorry have not covered all your points have to dash out again.
- Do not worry about making more entries - we can always undo them ;-) Duncan 13:03, 14 May 2008 (PDT)
Song vs Track, ie Orange Claw Hammer
Duncan, I'm being a Big Pane In Your Window.
What's the difference between a Track and a Song? By the wiki layout definition I'm on a Track Page here at Orange Claw Hammer, talking about one Song (written & performed by Captain Beefheart) released in two Track Versions, one played only by the Magic Band and produced by FZ (on a Side Project/Beefheart album), the other played by Beefheart (on a Beefheart compilation) that 'features' FZ on guitar.
It's also a Track (the original) that also appears on the Beefheart compilation The Dust Blows Forward: An Anthology that contains Bongo Fury tracks. On this wiki's Bongo Fury page the Tracks are referred to as Tracks, while on the Trout Mask Replica page they're Songs but, if you click the Song The Blimp, it's a Track page... I'm confused, but think Orange Claw Hammer is now almost there. Do semantics divide Us or Them?
PS: Before anyone says it, I think a Song is a set of Lyrics (with musical annotation) & a Track is a musical/audio interpretation of that Song (or words to that effect). --Tonefish 08:00, 17 May 2008 (PDT)
- Welcome to the never ending discussion The wiki is slowly evolving into some useful form but still has some way to go. You make valid points which, I am sure, will be addressed someday but for now I would go for content over semantics. Duncan 12:11, 17 May 2008 (PDT)
Yellow Shark photo "by Rien Post"
Hi Duncan,
Notatall reported that Image:Zappa yshark.jpg is actually a screenshot from a video, not a photo (check http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PA-Xm4Jj6h8 at 9'28").
As a consequence, should we replace it with a color version and maybe use it in an article? Or should we just delete it?
Have a nice weekend ;-)
Maroual 16:47, 22 May 2009 (PDT)
- As most of the stuff here is a copyvio (this is not Wikipedia) it should stay for now and we could add a colour version at some point. Duncan 04:17, 25 May 2009 (PDT)
Interviews excerpts in MOFO
Hi Duncan, as you might have witnessed I transcribed the interview excerpts tracks on the MOFO page.
It would be very kind of you if you take your time and read into the texts and maybe fill in the words I did not understand correctly, as my native language is not English and couldn't understand some words.
Thanks and have nice days.

Useless stuff and so on...
I got your point Duncan, but there are more constructive ways to express it, for instance by discussing on the Wiki Jawaka Talk.
Also, even the stuff you wrote regarding Aramis and Brut Cologne is not completely uninteresting and useless. At least, I learned something. But it would have been better if just explained at the end of the article. IMHO, it is more a matter of shaping than a matter of contents.
The purpose of the article Cologne was to have only one central article and avoid the creation of articles such as Co-log-nuh, Aramis and so on. Now you know my opinion about CC articles, I am not too much into that stuff, although I recognize it could be interesting if properly shaped.
Maroual 18:32, 2 January 2011 (UTC)
Also, I am not trying to say here that the article Cologne is essential. But it is true that people who are not native English speakers may like to have a few explanations when hearing "Co-lug-nuh" in Galoot Up-Date. It is not obvious for everybody.
Maroual 18:35, 2 January 2011 (UTC)
- My problem with this kind of thing is that we are adding weight and significance to stuff that may well be (probably are) just throw away lines... noodling around, playing with words, looking for a rhyme with pathos leads you through the three musketeers and onto "The great smell of..." Brut. It is not significant or profound. But once we start down this road we are open to anybody coming along and adding their own interpretation / pet theory / unique insight - as is the case with much of the CC stuff. Happy to say I have never heard Galoot Up-Date. What is "tainted CO-LOG-NUM"? Surely the crux of the biscuit is the "You can't even speak your own fucking language!" line. Can't we just leave it at that? Duncan 20:05, 2 January 2011 (UTC)
- Sure, but at some point, the sooner the better, we will need to clean all that mess. So I think that a good step in that direction would be to start deleting all useless categories. So I propose two things (1) first, we need to stop or block any categories creation attemps and (2) then the admins vote for the categories to keep/delete/replace with an article/other until a deadline. And I summarize the votes in a table on my user page. Then as a second step we shall clean the useless articles starting from the ones which belong to the targeted categories to delete. FYI, as of now only 68 articles are uncategorized, but most of them should. What do you think? Maroual 17:45, 3 January 2011 (UTC)
Zappa Picture Database
Hi Duncan
Do you think is would be possible to create a picture database where as much as possible pictures of FZ are gathered in one place, from each foto shooting the best resolution, as least cropped as possible, along with as much ownership info, dates, places attached?
I recently acquired Linda McCartneys picture book with the one (at least to me) well-known picture with FZ and Gail (I think in New York) and a second picture I have never seen before on the Web! I was baffled and surprised that this picture has never seen a monitor from inside, so this idea came up to make everything available that was ever shot …
Please eMail me if my idea makes any sense at all after I don't check this page not too often, although I am a great fan of this Wiki.
propellerq@gmx.at Thanks Hermann
My Postman
Honestly Duncan … really??? Your Postman?
As a Dadaist statement that’s okay, but for a larger public that tends to be seen as batantly irrelevant, thus dimishing the to-be-taken-seriously content of the Wiki … Please reconsider the page, or I may make a page with my toast looking like Jimmy Carl Black :-)

Non-FZ edits
I noticed that there was a redlink on Ozzy Osbourne's page for "Stayin' Alive," so I figured that meant that there should be a page about it.

Redlinks
OK, duly noted, I'll be more precise in the future.
(Speaking of which, did you ever notice how many pages on here incorrectly link to "Frank Zappa" or "FZ" instead of to "Biography?" Some, such as "Find Her Finer", linked to both.)
- My feeling is that every page should be telling me something about FZ (this being an FZ wiki) and so linking the name seems superfluous but on the other hand a better biography could act as a central core with links branching out to ever more detailed articles. Duncan (talk) 03:46, 22 July 2021 (PDT)
"Elvis Shrugged"
Ever heard of this? It was a three-part comic book series from the early 1990s that was a parody of Ayn Rand's Atlas Shrugged. The premise was that the Elvis who everyone thought had died in 1977 was actually a clone created by Col. Tom Parker and that the real Elvis had convinced many musicians to disappear. The music business has combined into one huge mega corporation, Time-Warner-Sony, and largely collapsed. In the story, Elvis wanted to give up rock and roll and appear in Stephen Sondheim's musical Company, and Col. Tom won't let him.
Zappa asks Elvis why he can't drop out too since he feels the same way Elvis does. Elvis tells him to "star in a sitcom or something" (the writer probably didn't know what happened with 'Normal Life) in order to "lull people into a false sense of security." Zappa also helps Elvis and co. procure their own secret location, "Blue Hawaii." Zappa is also the one sent on the unenviable mission of recruiting Frank Sinatra, who is now bionic. (It makes sense in context.) Along with Col. Tom (his animated, floating head [it makes sense in context]), the villains include Andrew Lloyd Webber (as the evil counterpart to Stephen Sondheim), Sinéad O'Connor (though she undergoes an accidental Heel-Face Turn as a result of Sinatra decking her and her landing in Lloyd-Webber's brainwashing chair. [It makes sense in context.]), movie producers John Peters and Peter Guber, Michael Jackson and Prince. Along with Elvis, Zappa, Sondheim and Sinatra, the good side also includes Cole Porter (well, his animated floating head [it makes sense in context]), Roy Orbison, Elvis Costello, Mojo Nixon, John Lennon [like Elvis, he faked his own death. Elvis told John he could tell his kids but not to tell Yoko.), Paul Schaffer, Sammy Davis Jr., Madonna, actor George Kennedy (after his Face turn) and James Brown.
Let me know if you think there should be a page about it here or not. Thank you.
So, am I allowed to add it or not? (It would go under Zappa Phenomena.) Thank you. Jason Kreitzer
- You do not need permission to do anything here. The question is: "Does it directly relate to the life, times and music of Frank Zappa? In my opinion it does not and will create yet another disconnected article which does not add to the overall value of Wiki Jawaka. All such Zappa Phenomena could be gathered into a single article with a brief paragraph about each - which is all they deserve. Your opinion may not be the same as mine - which is fine. Duncan (talk) 03:05, 23 July 2021 (PDT)
(As an aside: I threw all my Ayn Rand books in the trash in 2016 after finding out that she had approved of the slaughter of the Indians. I'm not a comic book guy. I got it from a company called Laissez Faire Books, which specialized in libertarian political literature. I went through a libertarian phase in college, leading me to register Republican so I could vote in the primaries, though I never voted for a Republican Presidential Candidate. My first Presidential election was in 1996. [I was born in 1975.] That year, I voted for the Libertarian candidate Harry Browne [RIP]. I've voted Democrat ever since, and finally re-registered as a Democrat in 2006. Please forgive me.)

"Dong Work For YUTA"
I just saw on the wrestling site cagematch.net that, last night, the American promotion Beyond Wrestling had an event titled Dong Work For YUTA. (The main event was Wheeler YUTA defeating Slade.) This is the first time I've found a wrestling show titled after a Zappa song and it feels like something that should be mentioned on here somehow. I've wanted to add a page of Zappa references in wrestling (I added AIW Girls Night Out 3 to the Videography page because Roxie Cotton used "Valley Girl" as her entrance music.) I have a few other examples I could add too. Thank you. - Jason.Kreitzer
- The problem is that it needs to tie in with something/everything else otherwise it adds nothing of value... like the page you recently edited. Your AIW Girls Night Out 3 link does not tell me anything about FZ so probably should not be included. It could be a foot note at the end of the Valley Girl article mentioning that she is a valley girl from just south of Reseda. The Beyond Wrestling link does not tell me anything. There is an article to be written detailing where FZ'z music has been used as incidental music - by wrestlers, in advertising etc. etc. which could tie all the snippets together. Duncan (talk) 11:53, 6 August 2021 (PDT)
- OK. Gabby "Roxie Cotton" Gilbert was actually born in Philadelphia. I have two other wrestling examples. At CHIKARA Here Come The International Invaders: Attack of the Phantom Sith, August 17, 2007, wrestler Jimmy Olsen wore a Zappa T-shirt for The Olsen Twins (Jimmy and Colin [WWE's Colin Delaney) and Brodie Lee [RIP]'s promo. On an episode of ECW Hardcore TV in 2000, a fan stood up in the audience holding a sign reading, "Zappa Is My Elvis." I've asked your permission because I didn't want to write the page and have it deleted. There isn't a page on here that would cover this stuff, and I had no way of knowing whether or not you yourself knew about any of these. ("Broken Hearts Are For Assholes" does mention a "no-holds-barred tag-team grudge match", after all.)

Get rid of the You Didn't Try To Call Me Talk Page
- The page listing all the different versions exists. Deleting the talk page would eliminate a lot from the "Wanted Pages" section which can't be eliminated otherwise, since you told me not to edit the Talk pages anymore. Thank you.-Jason.Kreitzer.
Delete the Talk: Biography page
There are a lot of pages on the "Wanted Pages" list that only link to the "Talk:Biography" page. Some are incorrect (e.g., Rex Jakabosky is listed as " Rex Jakabowski") and some clearly are redundant or otherwise aren't going to be turned into pages, meaning there's no need to keep the page there. Thank you. - Jason.Kreitzer.
"Socks?" "The?" "Footwear?" "Written"/"Uttered?"
Do we really need these pages and "categories?" At least "Shoes" provides examples of footwear being referenced in Zappa's work. The "Socks" page adds nothing, and the page for "The" is just dumb. - Jason.Kreitzer.
- Absolutely. Stupid dumb crap. When the last of all the other stupid dumb (or just plain wrong - WTF!!!!) crap has been deleted they can go too. Until then they stay as a reminder of just how crap most of this mess actually is. Duncan (talk) 02:01, 2 October 2021 (PDT)
Z's "Music For Pets" album?
Would a page for Z's Music For Pets album fit here? (I added the 200 Motels 50th Anniversary Edition two months before it's released due to Zappa's website listing the huge tracklist, so we're up to date with the regular releases, and I've filled in almost everything on the "Bootlegs [By Cover]" page, missing only Beauty Knows No Pain, since Discogs has nothing about that, and the ten-disc box.) Thank you. - Jason.Kreitzer.
- Not seeing any FZ connection. Perhaps inclusion in a Zappa Records releases listing. I think we need a full track listing for Zappa In New York 40th Anniversary Deluxe Edition and some other bits I cannot recall now. Duncan (talk) 03:56, 3 October 2021 (PDT)

The Category:Grey Market Talk Page
There are six red links on that page, and the Gonzo Multimedia link doesn't lead to anything. Muffin Man Goes To College and The Muffin Man Goes To College are the same, and I also found Masked Turnip Cyclophony, Bebop Tango Contest Live! and Mudshark Live on Discogs. (I found a few items with "Teenage Rockin Combo" in the title, so I'm not sure which one is being referred to here.) If there was a reason to add them to the site, shouldn't they be on the "Bootlegs (by Cover)" page? Aside from the Wiki Syntax examples on the Wanted Pages list, which obviously can't be created, why are they even on that list if there isn't any need to add them to the site?
As an aside, Maroual's talk page has a section titled "Pages fit for deletion" which includes red links to deleted pages but which are also listed on "Wanted Pages", as well as some cases of duplicate pages about the same subjects These need to be removed or combined. Thank you. - Jason.Kreitzer
"Stupid Dumb Crap" (In re: "Socks?" "The?" "Footwear?" "Written"/"Uttered?")
But why? Shouldn't we be trying to make the site better? Am I missing something? Thank you. - Jason.Kreitzer
- Because Zappa never said this but it is presented as if it is a quote. Because this has nothing to do with Zappa but it is presented as if it is of equal value to things that do. Etc. Etc. Duncan (talk) 16:16, 7 October 2021 (PDT)
- The Communism quote is paraphrased from the "Practical Conservatism" chapter of TRFZB.
- Exactly the problem. It is not a quote it is paraphrased and presented as a quote. Increasingly, particularly for the more obscure stuff, this wiki is listed first in a Google search and so we should try and be as accurate possible.
An event titled after a Zappa song and which had promotional art inspired by the original album has nothing to do with Zappa? Sure, yes, it happened over 27 years after Zappa's death, but, the whole idea behind the "Zappa Phenomena" category is stuff that acknowledged/referenced Zappa in some way without his participation. Thank you. Jason.Kreitzer
- Exactly the problem. It does not reference Zappa. It is a play on a song title. It is a minor footnote on the song's page not a stand alone article. All of the so called Zappa Phenomena is just collection of bits and pieces that did not fit anywhere else. It needs sorting and then deleting. Duncan (talk) 02:03, 8 October 2021 (PDT)
- I guess I misunderstood the purpose of the category. I was trying to play by your rules. Jason.Kreitzer.

Many of the items on the "Wanted Pages" list are red links on talk pages, several of which are for pages that have been deleted. It would help a lot if you could go through those pages and eliminate those red links so it would be easier to tell what should be made into a page and what shouldn't. Thank you. - Jason.Kreitzer.
"An American Dissident"
IINK's Videography page has a listing for a documentary titled An American Dissident: un tributo a Frank Zappa which aired on January 7, 1994 on the Italian Videomusic channel. Given that it includes footage of Matt Groening and Ruth Underwood's interviews from BBC Television Tribute from 1993, this would not have been the same documentary discussed in the articles Frank Zappa's Revenge and What You Can Do Onstage With New Records, CDs, Videos. The Italian documentary does not have a page on IMDB. Since Zappa's own vision for An American Dissident likely never came to pass, would it be OK to remove the links to it on those two pages and the one for Video From Hell? Thank you. - Jason.Kreitzer.
- Have added a note to clarify. Assume you want An American Dissident: un tributo a Frank Zappa as a link. We also need this masterpiece. Duncan (talk) 14:22, 12 October 2021 (PDT)
Blood On The Canvas Questions
I'm not sure how he got it, but, IINK has the lyrics to Blood On The Canvas. Would it be OK to add them to the site? Similarly, should the standard Side Projects infobox be added to that page, so it matches the others? Thank you. - Jason.Kreitzer.
Lord Buckley's "A Most Immaculately Hip Aristocrat" Question
IINK has the lyrics for that album. Would it be acceptable to add them here? Thank you. - Jason.Kreitzer
- Not really. No real FZ involvement. We have links to stream the album if anyone is interested. Duncan (talk) 13:24, 18 October 2021 (PDT)
Unused files page
Why do you keep files even after the relevant pages have been deleted? The pages for Bill Clinton, Dan Rather, The New Yorker, Zappa Coloring Book, Oscar Pettiford, Les Claypool, IT 77-07 and now The Village People have all been deleted, but the files (most of which, I admit, I uploaded) are still there. Some of them are redundant (Herb Cohen, Kathy Dalton, Fábio Massari, Lumpy Gravy, 1962 Studebaker Hawk, Alternatives, Lifemag71s, Cham-Fire!, Die Teufel von Loudun, 66 11 23-26 BALLOON ). You could really shrink the Unused files page by getting rid of these. Shouldn't the goal be to have that page be blank? Thank you. - Jason.Kreitzer
1986 concerts?
Setlist.fm has the setlist for a concert in Northridge, CA on October 8, 1986, and a site called lookatstubs.com has a stub for a show in College Park, MD on November 11th. (You have to pay to see the stubs.) ZappaBase has nothing about any concerts that year, and Google doesn't turn up much helpful information either. You know anything about these? Thank you. - Jason.Kreitzer.
- Cannot find anything for Northridge CA in October - nothing listed in the student daily newspaper - although five people claim to have attended. He did a lecture there on November 5th (which he mentions here and it was a lecture on Censorship In Music at College Park MD on November 11th. Duncan (talk) 03:23, 26 October 2021 (PDT)
"Schallplattenclub Box?"
What was this? Lukpac makes vague mention to a box set released by a company called Austria Schallplattenclub, but I can't find a picture or any other evidence. All help is welcome. (I'm trying to fill in the last seven blanks for "Missing.png," so it will no longer be the most linked-to file.) Thank you. - Jason.Kreitzer
- I do love a challenge :-)
- Wow, where did you find it? - Jason.Kreitzer
Shampoohorn
I figured that since there was already an "FZ Menagerie Bibliography" category, why not have a discography version? - Jason.Kreitzer
- The bibliography can be removed with items covered by a paragraph in the individual's page. Similarly any significant recordings could be added. Other things to remove will be anything ending in (The List). With so much FZ stuff missing or wrong we do not need to expand ever outwards. Duncan (talk) 04:26, 6 November 2021 (PDT)
Jeff Simmons' page
Why did you remove the Discogs links for Jerry Yester and Zal Yanovsky? If they aren't going to have pages here, why bother even creating redlinks for them? Isn't the goal to get rid of redlinks? Thank you. - Jason.Kreitzer.
- Why do you think they will not have pages here? No the goal is not to get rid of red links. Duncan (talk) 06:36, 10 November 2021 (PST)
WOIIFTM List
So, what do we do, remove all the "WOIIFTM (The List)" categories? Should we be doing that for all the other Lists too? Thank you. Jason.Kreitzer.
- Eventually yes and yes. All too often they are wrong or they add nothing - Algerian, Carmenita Scarfone. Anybody coming here trying to find out something about FZ is likely to give up after a couple of clicks and return to Google having found themselves lost in yet another list of names or dates. No lists. Fewer categories. More information. No rush. Duncan (talk) 02:15, 13 November 2021 (PST)
"The Wilson Family" and "The Thing" from "Them Or Us (The List)"
I have no access to Them Or Us (The Book). That said, the majority of the pages for "The Wilson Family" only link back to each other and have no content or context. The only pages that have any kind of information are the ones for "Uncle Willie" and "Old Zircon."
The page for "The Thing" has no content and there's no way to do a Google Advanced Search, given how common those words are. Without access to the book, I can't tell whether it's about the Kurt Russell movie, the comic book superhero, or something else altogether. Any help/explanation is welcome. Thank you. - Jason.Kreitzer.
- Sometimes this crap is so depressing it hardly seems worth the effort to sort it all out. I have ordered a copy of the book (at an exorbitant price) so we can see what is significant and worth keeping and how much of this crap is to be deleted - I suspect it will be mostly the latter. Why do we even have Rambo? Duncan (talk) 03:29, 19 November 2021 (PST)
Reginald, Duke of York
I can't find someone who matches this name. Wikipedia says that the Duke of York who Francesco Zappa taught was Prince Edward, Duke of York and Albany. In fact, the page for Duke of York doesn't even list a "Reginald" ever holding that title. - Jason.Kreitzer
Burnt Weeny Sandwich (The Film)
I have found a couple of sites that are selling DVDs/DVDrs of the film. One is DVDR Party (which is where I found the page image), and the other is CD and LP.com. The University of California, Berkeley Art Museum and Pacific Film Archive also has copies of it. - Jason.Kreitzer.
What's the deal with the "Dead-end pages" page?
It's supposedly a list of pages that aren't linked to anywhere else, except many of them are linked to other pages. "Orphaned pages" actually aren't linked to anywhere else, so what purpose does the "Dead-end pages" list serve? Thank you. - Jason.Kreitzer 12/28/2021 3:17 PM.
- Orphaned pages exist in isolation without anything linking to them. Dead End pages do not have any links on them to anywhere else - so they are a dead end and you can only go back to where you came from. I guess most of them are ripe for deletion.
- Please do not waste too much time on any scrappy stubby pages as they will either be deleted or amalgamated into another article - and then deleted.
- I am working on the principle that every page is called Frank Zappa and... (whatever the page is actually called). If there is no substantial FZ connection it does not belong here. If there is a semblance of an FZ connection it can probably be merged into another article where it would have more significance. Duncan (talk) 14:49, 28 December 2021 (PST)
Webp format
Hello,
It's been a while ^^
Can you please avoid uploading . webp images? For some unknown reason, it seems that this format is not supported by the system anymore.
It took me some time to realize that 2 of these .webp images were causing permanent errors in 2 wiki pages and in 1 admin page.
And fixing this is quite complex.
Thank you
