Amos & Andy' (also known as Amos 'n' Andy) was 1928-1960 U.S. sitcom, which started out as a radio show in 1928 and was later also adapted into a TV sitcom (1951-1953). Broadcast on WMAQ in Chicago, Illinois, written and voiced by the white actors Freeman Gosden and Charles Correll, it starred the antics of three black people, Amos Jones, Andrew Hogg Brown and George "Kingfish" Stevens, talking in specific accents. For the TV version, black actors were cast.
Since the 1960s, Amos & Andy has rarely been rebroadcast on US radio and television, since the characters are regarded as racial stereotypes.

Ike Willis used the jive talk of Amos & Andy in the song You Are What You Is ("he talks like a Kingfish from the Amos 'n' Andy"). He played the character as Thing Fish (a pun on the character Kingfish) on the album Thing-Fish and during the cover of Purple Haze on The Best Band You Never Heard In Your Life.
