Pee-Wee Herman is the stage name of actor and comedian Paul Reubens (1952-2023). Playing this character since 1977, Pee-Wee Herman received larger stardom by the mid-1980s after starring in the film Pee-Wee's Big Adventure (1985), directed by Tim Burton, and as host of the children's TV series Pee-Wee's Playhouse (1986-1990). Among the many special guests and musical collaborators on Pee-Wee's Playhouse were Cyndi Lauper, Todd Rundgren, The Residents, Danny Elfman, Mark Mothersbaugh (Devo), George Clinton, Scott Thunes and Dweezil Zappa. Some of the sets were designed by Gary Panter.
Paul Reubens is also mentioned and thanked in the liner notes of The MOFO Project/Object (2006) album. [1]
