The Royal Albert Hall of Arts and Sciences is a concert hall in London.
Concerts
Frank Zappa and the Mothers of Invention performed in the Royal Albert Hall twice:
- 23rd September 1967 - During this concert they played Louie Louie (At the Royal Albert Hall in London) on the pipe organ and performed sketches that have been filmed as part of the Uncle Meat (The Film) release (1988) and made available on CD as Ahead Of Their Time (1993). Two notable future celebrities in the audience that night were Terry Gilliam and Salman Rushdie.
- 6th June 1969 - During this performance, they played Little House I Used To Live In (exchange with heckler at the end of the piece, later included on Burnt Weeny Sandwich) & Mozart Ballet (Piano Sonata in B Flat) (later included on You Can't Do That On Stage Anymore Vol. 5).
Ban and trial
- The 8th February 1971 performance of 200 Motels was banned by the Hall's secretary Marion Herrod due to the obscene lyrics. This lead to a trial, overseen by Mr. Justice Mocatta, where Mr. Campbell defended the Royal Albert Hall and Mr. Ogden defended Frank Zappa.
