John Belushi (January 24, 1949- March 5, 1982) was an American actor, comedian and singer most notable for his work on Saturday Night Live, and in the movies National Lampoon's Animal House (1978) and The Blues Brothers (1980).
He featured twice on Zappa songs on Saturday Night Live as the funny Samurai Futaba character:
Did you know John Belushi well?
"No, I didn't know him very well, but I am sad that he's gone because the guy was a comedy genius. He was great, he had it, he was a funny guy. They don't build them like that too often. Style-wise there was a big difference between Ackroyd and Belushi; I would rate them as equals. Ackroyd was more intelligent and Belushi was more fall-down-and-hurt-yourself."
(Quoted from Frank Zappa, 82/06)
John Belushi is also mentioned and thanked in the liner notes of The MOFO Project/Object (2006) album. [1]
