Beavis and Butt-head was an American animated TV first shown on MTV in March 1993.[1]
It portrayed two teenagers, Beavis and Butt-head, whose only purpose in life seems to be watching television and grinning about everything they see and encounter. They both want to "score with chicks", but always fail. Yet they always discover sexual references in things other people say to them, which amuses them immensely. They divide the entire world in things that are cool and things that suck. The program became a cult tv show during the 1990s.
Towards the end of his life Frank Zappa claimed he only watched Beavis and Butt-head, Mystery Science Theater 3000 and The Simpsons as entertainment on television.
In one of the Beavis and Butt-head episodes, "Canoe" (October 1994) the duo watch Zappa's music video You Are What You Is, but become so annoyed at what they see that they change the channel. Since Beavis and Butt-head rarely changed the program, even if they hated the music video they were watching, this scene angered some of Zappa's fans. However, Mike Judge, the creator of the show claimed it was one of Zappa's wishes before he died.[2]
