Marina Bokelman (February 16, 1942 - May 16, 2022) was a US guitarist and musical folklore researcher. Together with David Evans, they searched for and recorded many traditional folk and blues musicians in the 1960s and 1970s.
Bokelman met Zappa in the summer of 1958, when he attended the Idyllwild School Of Music And The Arts on an art scholarship. They performed together at gatherings at her parents' house.
In 1966, Zappa included The Bokelmans in his list in the inner sleeve of Freak Out!, under the heading: These People Have Contributed Materially In Many Ways To Make Our Music What It Is. Please Do Not Hold It Against Them.
