Simon Prentis
Simon Prentis (b. 1953) is a British translator. Between 1978 and 1986, he lived in Japan. Since 1990, he is a member of the Institute of Translation and Interpreting.
He has collaborated with people like Eric Clapton, Philip Glass, Peter Greenaway, George Harrison, Chrissie Hynde, Takeshi Kitano, Stanley Kubrick, Paul McCartney, Desmond Morris, Takeshi Okada, Yoko Ono, Ryuchi Sakamoto, Ringo Starr and Sting.
Frank Zappa
Prentis was Zappa's 'Semantic Scrutinizer'/translator. Zappa said Prentis was the only translator working on the numerous foreign language versions of his material that he completely trusted. Gail and Frank asked Prentis to take over as translator after they found out that a lot of the earlier translations were wrong.
Prentis wrote the liner notes for Läther (1996), The Crux Of The Biscuit (2016) and the 50th anniversary edition of Apostrophe ('). [1]
