Sabu Dastagir (27 January 1924 – 2 December 1963) was a film actor of Indian origin, although he later took American citizenship.
He started out as a child actor in the 1930s and 1940s, being the first world famous Indian to have a succesful Hollywood career. His best known films are "Elephant Boy" (1937), "The Thief of Bagdad" (1940) and "Jungle Book" (1942). In the latter movie, Rosemarie De Camp plays Sabu's mother.
Zappa mentioned Sabu in the sleeve of Freak Out! (1966), under the heading: "These People Have Contributed Materially In Many Ways To Make Our Music What It Is. Please Do Not Hold It Against Them".
