Frank Zappa
In 1960, Zappa owned his own coffee house in Pomona, which he named The Circle Of The Zodiac.
In the early 1960s, Zappa and The Ramblers often performed in a bar in Pomona. As a member of The Soul Giants, Zappa also performed in the same bar. It was here that Zappa first met Ray Collins. During the same period Zappa was also a student at Pomona College and performed some of his earliest concerts there.
Zappa and his band performed in Pomona a few times, with one 1971 concert and two 1975 concerts at Pomona College. A week later, two students pulled off the The 1975 Pomona College Frank Zappa prank, making a frieze depicting Zappa's face on top of the auditorium.
