Ontario

Ontario is a city in San Bernardino County, California, where Frank Zappa lived between 1960 and 1964.

In 1960, Frank Zappa and his wife Kay Sherman moved to Ontario, California, where he married her. During this period, Zappa started working in Paul Buff's Pal Studio in Cucamonga and followed a composition course in Pomona College, under Karl Kohn. He also played with The Boogie Men, The Blackouts, Joe Perrino & The Mellotones and was hired to write the soundtrack to The World's Greatest Sinner (1961), appearing on the Steve Allen Show. He also first met Don Preston during this period.

In 1964, after filing divorce, Zappa left Ontario and moved in his recently bought studio, Studio Z (the renamed Pal Studio) in Cucamonga.
