Camper Van Beethoven
Camper Van Beethoven is an American alternative rock band, active between 1983 and 1990 and reunited since 1999, who use absurd lyrics and combine country, folk, ska and punk in their music. Their best-known hit was their debut single Take the Skinheads Bowling (1985), while they also scored a chart success with a cover of Status Quo's Pictures of Matchstick Men. Their most consistent line-up is David Lowery (vocals, guitar, keyboards, bass, drums), Victor Krummenacher (bass, baritone guitar, vocals), Jonathan Segel (violin, guitar, keyboards, sitar, mandolin, vocals), Greg Lisher (guitar, vocals), Chris Pedersen (drums, vocals), David Immerglück (guitar, mandolin, bass, vocals) and Michael Urbano (drums).
On their 1986 album Camper Van Beethoven, Eugene Chadbourne was featured as guest vocalist. On the collaborative album Eugene Chadbourne & Camper Van Beethoven (1989), the group played a Zappa Medley, which is an eccentric cover of Let's Make The Water Turn Black. [1]
