Atlantis is a legendary island from ancient Greek mythology, first mentioned in Plato's dialogues Timaeus, c. 360 BC and Critias. According to popular belief, Atlantis at one point supposedly sank to the bottom of the ocean, where an underwater civilization came about.

Despite much speculation over the centuries to this very day, no actual proof whether this island actually existed has ever been found, let alone of an underwater civilization.

In 1969, Donovan recorded a song about this mythological city, Atlantis, which became a worldwide hit.
