Jim Pons
Jim Pons (Santa Monica, California, 14 March 1943), is a retired American bass guitarist and singer. He played bass as a member of The Leaves and The Turtles.

In the Spring of 1971, Pons joined The Mothers.
Pons: "I had known Frank previous to my joining his band, so there was no formal audition. I was almost kind of like a friend of the family by then."
Jim provided bass and vocal for Fillmore East, June 1971, 200 Motels (vocal only), Just Another Band From L.A.,You Can't Do That On Stage Anymore Vol. 1, You Can't Do That On Stage Anymore Vol. 3, You Can't Do That On Stage Anymore Vol. 6, and Playground Psychotics; also for the Beat The Boots series disc Swiss Cheese/Fire! (BTB).
Pons is also referenced during Dental Hygiene Dilemma/I'm Stealing The Room: "Howard, that was Studebaker Hoch, dressed up like Jim Pons, giving career guidance to the bass player of a rock-oriented comedy group."
In 1973, Pons left the music industry.
