Ed Caraeff
Ed Caraeff is an American photographer and art director, who was very prominent during the 1960s and 1970s. He took the famous photos of Jimi Hendrix setting his guitar on fire during the 1967 Montery Pop Festival.
Caraeff took the photograph of Captain Beefheart holding a vacuum cleaner inside the sleeve of Hot Rats (1969). The front cover photo, however, was taken by Andee Nathanson.
Caraeff also took the infra-red photos for Trout Mask Replica (1969), the black and white photos in An Evening With Wild Man Fischer (1969) and made additional photos for Farewell Aldebaran (1969), Permanent Damage (1969), Uncle Meat (1969), Pretties For You (1969), Burnt Weeny Sandwich (1970), The Grand Wazoo (1972), For Real! (1973), Mystery Disc (1998) and Finer Moments (2012).
Outside Zappa's realm he was a prominent photographer for Three Dog Night.
