Spinvis is the name of a Dutch one-man band led by Erik de Jong (February 2, 1961). Spinvis debuted in 2002 with dreamy, surrealistic songs including"Voor ik Vergeet", "Bagagedrager" and "Smalfilm".

He names Frank Zappa as one of his influences, along with Edgard Varèse and Holger Czukay. When the Dutch newspaper "De Volkskrant" organized a special music theory exam for ten Dutch celebrity musicians Spinvis was invited as well. He felt that some of the musical choices during this examination were very poor and told the journalists: "Next time you need pop music for an exam, just call me. I know something better: Zappa, Captain Beefheart,.."
