The U.K. Subs were a British punk group. They scored a few hits during the late 1970s with "Stranglehold", "Warhead", "Teenage" and "Tomorrow's Girls".

On 19, 20 and 21 November 1979, Zappa played I Live In A Car by The UK Subs, as a guest DJ on WPIX, New York. On 20 November, he also played their song Phone Numbers on the same channel.

Zappa played I Live In A Car again while he was guest DJ on BBC Radio 1's Star Special in 1980.
