: Well, The Dead Kennedys were hardcore punk.  I hate classifying music by genre, but, for the sake of simplicity, you have to call it something.  Ideally, record stores (I KNOW, I KNOW) would have everything arranged alphabetically by artist, with no genre categories at all. Well, The Dead Kennedys were hardcore punk. I hate classifying music by genre, but, for the sake of simplicity, you have to call it something. Ideally, record stores (I KNOW, I KNOW) would have everything arranged alphabetically by artist, with no genre categories at all.
