Link with Zappa

Chrissie Hynde is mentioned and thanked in the liner notes of The MOFO Project/Object (2006) album. [1]

When interviewed by Dave Itzkoff in The New York Times on June 11, 2014 the reporter asked her if the induction of the band felt like a legitimization? Hynde said: "Some artists buy into it. They get their little award, and they're onstage crying, and I just think: Look at yourself. Get off the stage. To me it's disgusting. I don't understand how any self-respecting artist can recognize it as legitimate. If you want to look at the success of sales, look at McDonald's; they've sold a lot of their product. Imagine Frank Zappa crying because he got an award. Imagine Jimi Hendrix thanking everyone after he picked up his Grammy. It just wouldn't happen." [2]

During a December 6, 2014 concert she also paraphrased "A little nostalgia for the old folks!" from Zappa's Lumpy Gravy. [3]

On September 9, 2015 Hynde appeared on the Sunday morning show on CBS, wearing a Freak Out! shirt. She also wore the same shirt while being interviewed on the Conan O'Brien show. [4]
