In the Real Frank Zappa Book, Zappa mentions the Blue Velvets as the San Diego "girl gang" that promoted the "rock show" of the first gig Zappa played.[1] So this does not appear to be the Blue Velvets who went on to become Creedence Clearwater Revival.
