Moon Unit Zappa

Biographical notes

First child, born September 28, 1967, in New York. A singer, actress, writer, director.
Married to drummer Paul Doucette; their daughter, Mathilda Plum Doucette, was born on December 21, 2004 (as was FZ in 1940).

Contribution to FZ's works

As a 14 year old contributed vocals to "Valley Girl" (she was credited for her improvised monologue) from "Ship Arriving Too Late To Save A Drowning Witch" - the title was Moon's description of the image on the cover.

Was a guest vocalist on the albums "You Are What You Is”, "Them Or Us" (on the track "Ya Hozna") and on "Frank Zappa Meets The Mothers Of Prevention". Appeared vocally on seven tracks of "Civilization Phaze III".

Other contributions

Appeared in Dweezil's video "My Guitar Wants To Kill Your Mama".

Moon, Kyle Richard and Lala Sloatman appeared in a failed pilot for a show ("Bunny Bunny Bunny") that FZ described in "Video From Hell" as "an Ionesco sort of post-punk sitcom".

Moon also created paintings for the Gabor Csupo/Bret Crain gallery inside the Lumpy Gravy restaurant in L.A.

Notes

In the film "Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me" (1999) the character Dr Evil says: "The moon unit will be divided into two divisions: Moon Unit Alpha and Moon Unit Zappa."
