Zappa can't tour but he still composes.
The Toronto Star, March 13, 1993
Frank Zappa sounds stoic about the inoperable prostate cancer that has kept the rock star from touring in recent years.
"What can you do?" the 52-year-old said in the April issue of Playboy. "People get sick. Sometimes they can fix it, and sometimes they can't."
Zappa has undergone several grueling rounds of radiation and chemotherapy since he was diagnosed with cancer in 1990.
He continues to compose and has experimented with styles ranging from rock and jazz to classical.
"I do it to amuse myself," he said. "If I like it, I release it. If somebody else likes it, that's a bonus."
