Thelma Ritter (February 14, 1905 - February 4, 1969) is an American film actress, most notable for portraying streetwise, working class characters.
She is best remembered for playing Birdie in All About Eve (1950), Moe Williams in Pickup on South Street (1953), Stella the nurse in Rear Window (1954), Alma in Pillow Talk (1959), Isabelle in The Misfits (1961), Elizabeth Stroud in Birdman of Alcatraz (1962) and Agatha in How the West Was Won (1962).
In Data For Sensitive or Critical-sensitive Position, Frank Zappa listed Thelma Ritter among his "favorite other stuff".
