The Dovells were an American doo-wop band. They are best known for their hit songs Bristol Stomp (1961), Do the New Continental (1961) and You Can't Sit Down (1963).
Zappa and The Dovells
In 1963 Paul Buff and Frank Zappa recorded a parody of The Dovells' You Can't Sit Down, titled Can't Stand Up. This recording can be heard on Paul Buff Presents The Pal And Original Sound Studio Archives, Vol. 1 (2010).
During a concert on 30 September 1967 in Stockholm, Sweden Zappa and the Mothers briefly covered Bristol Stomp. This track can be heard on 'Tis The Season To Be Jelly (BTB) (1991).
