So are we going to mp3 FZ's albums and make them available from the Wiki - which, apparently, will be ok as long as we do not make any money out of it?

This article would not even qualify for "fair use" usage as it adds little that we do not have elsewhere. We could quote any original content it may have in an article that we write ourselves rather than ripping off other peoples work.

Answering my own questions :-)

The article is [|available online] (incidentally it is entitled "We are the Mothers...and This Is What We Sound Like!" rather than THE LOUD ONE that we are using). The good people at Mix magazine do allow for [|Nonprofit] use of their articles but seem to provide you with a link rather than a free hand. Their [|application form] does have a Do Something Else option which may or may not include Wikification.

Duncan, what exactly is your point? When I read our Project Charter / Mission Statement, it says: "Wiki Jawaka's ambition is to be nothing less than the ultimate Frank Zappa Resource"... Incorporating articles about FZ or FZ's works contributes to the Wiki's mission... and has nothing to do with "ripping off" other people’s work (they receive their credits and all)...

By the way, here’s where I found the “loud” version:

Dunc, Emdebe's got a point here I think - if we have a category called "Articles About Zappa", it's going to be filled up with articles about Zappa - and they will all have a copyright notice. I don't think copyright is a problem here; I've got multiple "copyrighted" articles transcribed over at KUR, never got anyone bother me about it. I figure if we just give credit where credit is due, we're going to be a-okay. Geez we're doing this for free all of us! I think those watching get that...
