Susan Baker
Susan Garrett Baker was the wife of politician and Treasury Secretary James Baker. Together with Tipper Gore, she was co-founder of the PMRC.
Frank Zappa
Zappa targets Baker in Z-Pack - Variety article (1984) and Z-Pack - Prepared Statement Of Mr. Zappa (1985) (of which the audio can be heard on Congress Shall Make No Law (The Track).
"For one thing, Tipper maintains that their standpoint is not fundamentalist. However, Mrs. Baker definitely is a fundamentalist, and there's no way that her philosophy could have been kept from seeping into what's going on here. They also say that they don't favor legislation, but one of the reasons why they can't favor legislation is because they have a tax-exempt number. That tax-exempt number goes away the day that they raise a nickel for or recommend legislation, so the ladies can't say [the word] legislation. But that's not what their husbands say. Understand? So it's hard for me to say – in fact, it's hard for them to say – what it is they're really after." - Frank Zappa in WRIF Radio Interview, 28 October 1985.
Later, when Zappa became Cultural Ambassador of Czechoslovakia (1989), US Secretary of State James Baker interfered. According to Just When you thought it was Safe (Article by Phil Wilding, Cutting Edge, August 1993) and to columnist Jack Anderson (cited in Frank Zappa. Interview in Playboy, 1993), Baker "still held a grudge against Zappa after he referred to Susan Baker as a "bored housewife"'.
