Shoji Umemura is a Japanese writer, illustrator and painter, known as a Frank Zappa scholar. [1] He worked as a CD booklet and OBI designer for Rykodisc Japan, designing nearly all the booklets for the Zappa album releases.

In 2010, he wrote an article about Frank Zappa for issue #575 of Young Guitar, which also features interviews with Dweezil Zappa and Mike Keneally. [2] Umemura also interviewed Ahmet Zappa for the September issue of Record Collectors' Magazine (2021). [3]

He contributed to Wakui Koji's Zappa collector's guide book Shut Up 'n' Collect Yer Records (2020). [4]
