Prazský Výber
Prazský Výber ("The Prague Selects") is a Czech jazz/ rock band, established in 1976. They were popular because of their humorous style, genre-busting music and resistance against the Communist regime. Between 1983 and 1986 they were banned by the government. Their main musical influences were The Beatles, The Rolling Stones and Frank Zappa.
Frank Zappa
On 24 June 1991, Zappa performed with Prazský Výber on stage in Prague, Czechoslovakia during a concert titled Adieu C.A. (which translates as "Goodbye Soviet Army"), celebrating the departure of Soviet troops from the Czechoslovak territory. Zappa plays guitar on "Improvizace v A dur", where he exchanges guitar solos with Prazský Výber's guitarist Michael Pavlicek.
Members of Prazský Výber for this concert were: Michael Kocáb - vocals, keyboards, trumpet / Michal Pavlicek - guitar / Vilem Cok - bass guitar, vocals / David Koller - drums / Stanislav Jelinek - guitar / Franta Honig - percussion / Milo Vacik - percussion / Ladislav Faktor - keyboards / and The Roucek Brass Band. Parts of this concert, including Zappa's performance, were released on the album Adieu CA (Hungary Art Production K 0001-2311, released: 3 March 1992) and can be seen in the documentary/concert film Prager leben gut.
The group's lead singer, Michael Kocáb, was also mentioned and thanked in the liner notes of The MOFO Project/Object (2006) album. [1]
