Martin Clunes (November 28, 1961) is a British actor and comedian, best known for his roles as Gary Strang in the British sitcom "Men Behaving Badly" (1992-1998) and Doctor Martin Ellingham in "Doc Martin" (2004- ...). He also played Richard Burbage in the Academy Award winning film "Shakespeare In Love" (1998).
Clunes claimed in an interview that if he could invite any celebrity, dead or alive, to a dinner date he would choose for Stanley Kubrick, Frank Zappa, Ry Cooder and Neil Morrissey (his co-actor in "Men Behaving Badly"). He also said that Zappa and Cooder would probably provide the necessary entertaining music for the dinner date. http://www.thefreelibrary.com/A+dinner+date+with%3A+Martin+Clunes.-a060205464
On September 18, 2011, Martin Clunes was a guest in the BBC Radio 4 program "Desert Island Discs", where guests are invited to list their ten favorite musical tracks that they would take with them to a deserted island. One of Clunes' choices was Frank Zappa's song Doreen. He also told the interviewer that he would gladly swap the complete works of William Shakespeare for the complete works of Frank Zappa, because "I would probably get more out of that." He also confessed to the interviewer that his wife and daughter usually leave the room whenever he started playing Zappa, so he was very pleased that he could play his music on the radio.
