Ian Dury and the Blockheads were a British punk and new wave band, formed in 1977, originally led by Ian Dury (1942-2000), who performed with a lot of humor. They scored hits with Sex & Drugs & Rock & Roll (1977), What a Waste (1978), Hit Me with Your Rhythm Stick (1978) and Reasons to Be Cheerful, Part 3 (1979). The band split in 1982, but has reunited regularly, even after Dury's death in 2000.
The group sometimes performed with Don Cherry.
Frank Zappa
When Frank Zappa was guest DJ at WPIX, New York on 22 November 1979, he closed off his set with Reasons To Be Cheerful, Part 3 by Ian Dury and the Blockheads.
