David Letterman (b. April 12, 1947) is an American comedian, talk show host and television producer best known for his shows Late Night with David Letterman, which aired on NBC from 1982-1993, and The Late Show with David Letterman, which aired on CBS from 1993 to 2015.
Frank Zappa appeared on Late Night several times. On the June 6, 1983 episode, he appeared to promote the first London Symphony Orchestra album and discussed the origins of the name Captain Beefheart.
