Charles Amirkhanian (January 19, 1945) is an American composer and radio producer and presenter. He was music director of KPFA-FM in Berkeley, California (1969-1992), where he initiated an avant-garde radio show Ode to Gravity. He is also co-founder, executive director and artistic director of the Other Minds Music Festival in San Francisco.

Amirkhanian interviewed Zappa on May 17, 1984 (See: KPFM-FM Radio Interview, 84/5) and April 15, 1991 (See: Ode To Gravity - Frank Zappa: World Affairs Commentator)
In November 1993, Amirkhanian was one of the assembled composers of the Other Minds Festival who signed a proclamation letter to Frank Zappa one month before his death, thanking him for his "inspirational work". [1]
