Al Malkin from Video From Hell

Al Malkin was a cab driver from New York.

"Al's a friend - he's also known as 'Meatball'. We used to miss school together, listen to Frank and smoke pot. Frank offered to tape his life story. He was like the Wild Man Fischer of the 80's." - Warren Cuccurullo

"Al Malkin is a guy who used to be a New York city cab driver. I met him when he came up on stage for a dance contest at The Palladium and it turned out he was a school time chum of Warren Cuccurullo. I consequently got to know him a little bit better. The guy's got an amazing sense of humor. He now drives a limousine in New York City and drives me around when we go to town; and as a matter of fact I am sending him to the Grammy's this year because I am going to be on the road when the Grammy's are on.... I guarantee you the best live television youv'e ever seen if they get him on that camera." - Frank Zappa interview by Bill Camarata. (MP3)

Malkin played the role of Officer Butzis on Joe's Garage Act I and Joe's Garage Acts II & III - the track Catholic Girls is also included on the Have I Offended Someone? compilation. He can be seen in The True Story Of 200 Motels and Video From Hell.

Al Malkin wrote the foreword to the liner notes for the album Carnegie Hall and is included in the list of names in the liner notes of The MOFO Project/Object (Fazedooh) album.

He also appeared on Warren Cuccurullo's album Playing In Tongues.
