? and the Mysterians (pronounced "Question Mark and the Mysterians") were an American rock band famous for the song "96 Tears". Zappa told an interviewer
I like 'Nighnty-six (sic) tears." ... I mean, I thought, listen! 'Ninety-six tears'! Wow! That's an art statement.[1]
The Mothers performed a version of this song called Tiny Sick Tears.[1]
