The Edwards Air Force Base is an air force base, not far from Lancaster, California in the Mojave Desert. Zappa's father worked at the base between 1956 and 1959, as described in The Real Frank Zappa Book.
The location is referenced in Billy The Mountain (as the first thing Billy the mountain and Ethel the tree destroy) and Be-Bop Tango (in reference to Brenda the stripper who performed there earlier, according to Zappa).
